Извержение гавайского вулкана Килауэа, начавшееся 20 декабря, сняли на видео. Трансляцию катаклизма вели на YouTube авторы канала Doing Hawaii.
Местные власти предупредили жителей ближайших населенных пунктов не покидать дома — выбросы вулкана могут навредить их здоровью. Гавайская вулканическая обсерватория сообщила, что зафиксировала землетрясение силой в 4,4 балла, а также серию более слабых толчков.
По данным обсерватории, за последние 20 лет ученые заметили более 30 землетрясений магнитудой выше 4 баллов в этой части вулкана. Формально считается, что он беспрерывно извергается с 1983 года, это одно из самых продолжительных извержений за всю историю наблюдений на Земле.
В 2018 году извержение Килауэа уничтожило более 700 домов, жителям пришлось эвакуироваться.
